Reviews for our Bed and Breakfast

What a gem this place is! Check-in was quick and easy, Carene gave great recommendations for dinner and happy hour, and we were off! Can’t beat the location! With the water taxi literally step from the door, you can be to anywhere on the harbor in minutes. The room was clean and bright, with a large bathroom and sitting area. Easy to grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner - all available within Fisherman’s Wharf, or scooting over to downtown or the Boom and Batten. We also did the discounted whale watch with Eagle Wings, which was excellent (and also steps away). The wharf was wonderfully peaceful and quiet in the evenings. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a cocktail as the sun went down. On our first night, we were treated to 2 otters playing right below us. We also caught a glimpse of a seal nearby. What a location! So jealous of everyone that lives in these float houses, but happy we were able to experience it for just a bit! Couldn’t imagine a better stay in Victoria!

We stayed at Carenes amazing home in Fisherman’s Wharf for three nights, and loved every minute. We had the Poppy room, which was a really good size, and the little balcony over the water was perfect to sit with a glass of wine, or to enjoy takeaway. There are just two guest rooms - so book early! We loved staying in Fisherman’s Wharf, great food and views, and feels a million miles away from downtown Victoria- though you can walk in to town in around 20 minutes along the waterfront. Carene provides tea/coffee in the room, and a voucher to go to Imagine studio cafe just over the park for breakfast. Their breakfast is really good, as are all the people who work there and their ethos. We ended up not being able to resist their cakes/pastries to takeaway too. As we did not bring our car and arrived late in the day, we really appreciated that there was a selection of both red and white wine in the room that we could buy. Such a peaceful place to stay - even when the Wharf is busy during the day. The Wharf is locked at night, and you have a code to access the dock, so totally quiet at night. Carene provides a parking permit for use during the stay. We saw sea otters, herons and even a raccoon when we sat on the balcony. Would love to stay again when our travels bring us to Canada.

"Each year in the spring I travel from my home in London, Ontario to holiday in Victoria, B.C., a gorgeous city I'm drawn to where flowers bloom early and beautiful scenic views are everywhere. Especially enjoyed in Victoria is a stay at the houseboat B&B in Fisherman's Wharf and this year, early in March, I returned for the third year to spend several days at this unique B&B. On arrival, an attractively furnished bright room with fresh flowers greeted me, and a very comfortable bed with nice fresh linens has an added feature I especially appreciate the ability to heat it if you wish. These are just a few of the great features provided in my room and they all gave me a comfortable, quiet and relaxing stay again. The free parking provided was appreciated as well. The location is perfect, surrounded close by with interesting eateries and water taxis and tour boats, all offering services regularly just a few steps from my door. One of the places provided the special seafood treat I order once every year - a delicious oyster burger which I was able to eat on a warm sunny day outdoors at the tables overlooking the waters, boats and at times sea planes. Even the seagulls are well behaved - without disturbing, they patiently and quietly stand nearby in hopes they'll be offered some of what you're having. When I return home and tell my friends about my stay in this attractive house boat B&B, they're always envious. I would rate this B&B highly - for me, its definitely a 10 out of 10, and I hope to spend my fourth stay here again when I return to Victoria next spring."

"What a lovely experience! Carene welcomed us graciously and told us everything we needed to know. The room was decorated beautifully and she provided fruit, coffee, tea, and milk. Woke up to tea on the patio overlooking the wharf which was stunning, then had breakfast at the cafe down the street for the meal that was included. What a cute place! Very friendly workers and delicious food. Overall a great experience and will hopefully be returning soon!"

"What an AMAZING experience!! We met with Carene when we arrived. She showed us to the room and then toured us in the rest of her lovely home. Carene made us feel like we were truly good friends coming to visit rather than just BNB guests. We found her warm and inviting and she made sure we had all of the necessary items to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Carene intuitively provides that great mix of privacy and engagement. She was able to provide excellent guidance for food and entertainment. One evening we were able to spend with her at one of the lounges enjoying an act that she had recommended. Again, it was great and exactly what my wife and I were hoping for in an evening. There is more than one BNB in Victoria but I would hesitate to think there is a better one. My wife and I highly recommend this home and this hostess."

"Carene's B&B floating boat home is a dream come true! We spent two incredible nights here and highly recommend it to everyone who's looking for a beautiful, unique, and convenient place to stay in the Fisherman's Wharf area of Victoria. It's super-easy to access to fresh seafood/restaurant spots (Breakwater Cafe/ILl Covo), and the front-door water taxi service is a must for visitors ($5; takes you to most of the spots in Downtown Victoria). Carene is a gracious and thorough host - you get a warm welcome and plenty of breakfast items during your stay. I can't wait to come back and stay here again!"

"Our family absolutely loved the experience of staying on the houseboat. Carene was an excellent host and was sure to give us the lay of the land when we arrived. We look forward to visiting again in the future!"

"Carene met us punctually and immediately made us feel very welcome. She helped us get our bearings explaining everything thoroughly. There was another couple checking in to the room next door at the same time. Carene made us all feel special and helped us settle in quickly. Sleeping on a float house was amazing. The wharf quieted down by 8-9 pm. Taking the water taxis' from the dock was very cool. We loved the interior spaces - serene, stylish with all the conveniences. Carene took us up to tour her living space - lovely!"

"Carene was a very warm and gracious hostess. Her home was lovely and peaceful. She had breakfast and wine glasses for us. It was a pleasant, lovely time spent in her home. It was beautiful, clean, warm. It is better than the pictures online. Carene was wonderful. She had great suggestions for things to see, places to eat. We got a parking pass, which really helped. It was a great experience."

"Really a very unusual, terrific experience to be on a houseboat! I recommend this to anyone at least one time. The house is in a busy area with food vendors but it's very quiet at night. There is a water taxi immediately at the B & B doorstep that can take you to the Empress Hotel during the day, and there are several very good restaurants within walking distance. Carene is a very personable, likeable woman. The place is well cared for and comfortable. Carene was very pleasant and hospitable and very kind in guiding me into the location. The B&B is right in the thick of the tourist activities at Fisherman's Wharf, but there was no noise at all after the sun set. You are right at the beginning of Dallas Road, and it was very pleasant to go for a walk along the Dallas Road waterfront past Beacon Hill Park."

"Carene was a spectacular host. The float home was a unique and enjoyable place to stay with a water taxi stop just steps from the door. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Victoria."

"I booked my relatives from Switzerland to stay on Carene's B&B float home in Victoria for a couple of nights. It was their first time in Victoria and using Airbnb for accommodations. They were completely impressed with Carene's float home. She made them feel right at home. They quite enjoyed the water taxi service and the close proximity to all the major hot spots in Central Victoria. If you want a unique experience, there is nothing better than staying right on the water with Carene as your host!"

"This is my first time using AirBnB and Carene was an awesome host. She helped me with all my questions. Suggested me some places to go. She's always available and reachable. I would recommend her place for anyone. Loveeeee it..."

"Carene made us feel very welcome! She was a lovely, friendly and respectful host. Everything we could need was provided and she checked in with us every so often to see if there was anything else she needed. She gave us a great orientation to the area with spot-on recommendations for food and activities. The float home is the coolest place I have ever stayed. We saw seals and otters in the harbour regularly. The wharf is so much fun to hang around and there is some great food right outside your doorstep. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone coming to Victoria! It made our trip so much more fun!"
